Seoular is KCONN's audition-based dance group/performance team that was formed in 2016. We post dance covers on our youtube channel and perform at various campus events. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester.

‣ being on creative team is a great way to learn and get experience. filming and editing for workshops are generally for those who just starting while CV's and other major events are for those with more experience. we want to have a community that is open to learning so please expect to help out others and work together in teams.ㅤㅤ

‣ we will choose who works on what concept videos based on everyone's availability. there will be a max of 2 people per video for each slot (excluding misc assistance).

‣ although you are on the creative team, this does not mean you will be able to dance in concept videos. the creative team is only responsible for filming, editing and photography for our concept videos as well as KCONN dance workshops; if you would like to be in a concept video you must audition for SEOULAR and pass.

auditions✰ auditions are typically held once in the fall and once in the spring, at the beginning of the semester.✰ auditions are only open to current storrs students. other students are welcome to join kconn workshops or creative team if they want.✰ we will provide 8 song choices total including time stamps to learn, you will have to choose 2 out of the 8 (one per category we give)
ㅤㅤ✰ㅤplease follow the person in the center; if the person in the center is mainly doing adlibs, you can follow any of the other members (everyone will generally be doing the same moves)✰ location and time for auditions are TBD; they will be group auditions

✰ if you have video submissions, please be sure to send them in on time. we also check to make sure you are not following a video when recording. if we see that you are following a video or your submission is not on time, you automatically will not be considered for a position.

✰ audition songs are sent through the email list. if you do not have access, you can email seoular to get the audition songs

if auditioning for the fall semester, all previous members must re-audition.

general rules✰ SEOULAR meetingsㅤ
SEOULAR meetings are mandatory to attend. if a member cannot attend due to unavoidable circumstances, they should email [email protected] so that there is a record for their excused absence.✰ duesㅤ
payment of dues is required for SEOULAR membership. dues are $15 per semester or $25 per academic year. in the case that a member does not pay their dues by the deadline, their SEOULAR membership will be revoked. however, they are still welcome to audition for the next semester. dues go towards funding for concept video equipment, booking venues and buying costumes or props for the spring showcase.

a majority of SEOULAR activities are dependent on self teaching. however, members are encouraged to reach out to their fellow SEOULAR members or the e-board member in charge for advice, help or clarification.audition rules

video submissions must be sent in ON TIME. no exceptions.
deadline information will always be in the respective audition email.
we will also check to make sure you are not following a video when recording. If we see that you are following a video or that your submission is not on time, you will be automatically rejected.✰ requesting feedback
members are reserved the right to ask the e-board member in charge of a specific videos/auditions for feedback about their audition. this includes advice for improving, and, or, an explanation as to why they are not accepted. we, the e-board, would really like to help everyone improve so don’t be afraid to ask!concept video rules

in order for a member to participate in a concept video, auditions are mandatory; if chosen, members will be assigned a person to follow by the e-board member in charge of the video. please look at the audition rules above for more information.

✰practices
concept video practice times will be released with audition information. members are responsible to check and make sure that they are available for the practices before auditioning. in the event that an absence is unavoidable, please notify the e-board member in charge in advance. missing more than half of the practices will result in being given a strike and being replaced by another SEOULAR member.

✰running a concept videoㅤ
members can request to co-run their own concept video with an e-board member by emailing [email protected]. the following information must be included in the email to be considered: song title and artist, audition date, general audition expectations, number of member slots available, all practice dates, and tentative filming date.
✰e-board members have their own ways of running their concept videos, please respect and abide to their own set rules

1. If you are interested in filming a concept video, you must attend at least one practice.2. Consult eboard before doing something on your own (confirm before editing, posting or participating in projects)
-Do not edit without the consent of the eboard member in charge3. Keep in mind that just because you are filming/taking photos, you will not necessarily be the one editing them unless stated in the activity sheet4. We will assign a project to you based on everyone's availability, if you cannot participate let the eboard members know, you may volunteer to work on a project, however it is not guaranteed that you will be chosen.5. We will limit projects so we can allow everyone on the creative team a chance to work on something and improve their skills
